About this tool: This tool gives a starting point only. It does not decide eligibility, approve benefits, show live vacancies, or replace official agency rules. Program rules, funding, waitlists, and application dates can change. Always confirm details with the official agency before applying. No information is saved by this static page.

How this tool helps

Charity help is local. National names can point you in the right direction, but the real answer usually depends on your ZIP code, county, deadline, and type of need. This tool helps you decide who to call first for food, rent, utilities, dental care, transportation, home repair, clothing, legal help, caregiver support, or loneliness.

For urgent needs, call 211 first. For senior-specific services, call the Eldercare Locator at 1-800-677-1116. Your local Area Agency on Aging may know programs that do not show up on search engines.

Best call script

“I am a senior in [county/state]. I need help with [problem]. My deadline is [date]. Can you tell me which local programs are open now, what documents I need, and who I should call next if you cannot help?”

Reality checks

Charity funds can run out. Some organizations help only once per year. Some require a shutoff notice, eviction paper, income proof, or referral from 211. Others provide food or supplies faster than cash. If one group says no, ask for two other referrals before hanging up.

Safety warning

Real charities do not ask for gift cards, crypto, wire payments, or “processing fees” to release help. Be careful with social media messages offering senior grants. Verify through the organization’s official website or phone number.
