Mission

GrantsForSeniors.org is an independent information site for people in the United States looking for government and nonprofit programs that help older adults. We do not give money, sell products, or act as a government agency. Our goal is simple: find legitimate programs, explain them in plain language, and show how to apply.

Who writes and checks our content

Our content is written and reviewed by a small editorial team with real-world experience in communications and healthcare. We keep authorship transparent and list the person who wrote and the person who reviewed each guide.

Analic Mata-Murray — Managing Editor

Analic holds a Communications degree focused on journalism and advertising. She volunteered for over a decade translating for The Salvation Army to help Spanish-speaking families access housing, food, and emergency aid. Analic oversees content accuracy and clarity and creates and reviews articles in both English and Spanish. Her specialties include community resources, housing assistance, and emergency aid.

Yolanda Taylor — Senior Healthcare Editor

Yolanda has clinical experience as a medical assistant across multiple settings and is pursuing a MA in Psychology. She reviews all healthcare-related content to ensure medical and insurance information is accurate and easy to understand. Her specialties include Medicare, preventive care, mental health resources for seniors, and insurance navigation.

How we research and verify information

  • Primary sources only: We rely on official government pages (.gov), state agencies, Area Agencies on Aging, and established nonprofits.
  • Cross-checking: We verify eligibility rules, benefit amounts, and application steps across multiple authoritative sources before publishing.
  • Direct links: We link to the official application pages, forms, and agency contact numbers so you can confirm details yourself.
  • Documentation: We keep records of the sources used and archive critical pages when possible so changes can be tracked.

Writing style and accessibility

  • Plain language: We write for an 8th-grade reading level so instructions are easy to follow.
  • Step-by-step guides: Each program guide includes realistic timelines, required documents, and common pitfalls.
  • Bilingual support: We publish guides in English many of them Spanish summaries to reach more families.
  • Formats: We provide phone numbers, printable instructions, and alternatives for people who prefer in-person help.

Updates, corrections, and how fast we act

  • Regular reviews: Federal program pages are reviewed quarterly; state guides are reviewed at least every six months.
  • Link checks: Automated monthly link checks plus manual audits for high-use pages.
  • Reader reports: If you report an error, we investigate and correct critical mistakes (eligibility, deadlines, contact info) within 12–48 hours.

Transparency and conflicts of interest

  • Independence: We are not affiliated with government agencies and do not accept payment from programs we list.
  • Advertising: The site is supported by advertising. Ads are separate from editorial content and do not influence which programs we cover.
  • No endorsements: We do not endorse specific providers or guarantee outcomes for applicants.

Safety and scams

We warn readers about common scams that target older adults. If a service asks for payment to apply for a government benefit, treat it as suspicious. We link to official agency fraud pages when available.

Limitations and legal note

Our guides are informational only. They are not legal, financial, or medical advice. Individual eligibility and benefit amounts vary by location and personal circumstances. Always confirm final eligibility and application steps with the official program administrator.

Contact and corrections

To report an error, suggest a resource, or ask about our process, email corrections@grantsforseniors.org. We respond to reports promptly and investigate each one.
