Area Agencies on Aging
If you are 60 or older and need help at home, your local Area Agency on Aging is usually the best first call. These are local offices — funded by the government — that help seniors stay independent. They can connect you to free meals, rides to doctor appointments, help paying bills, someone to check on you at home, and free advice about Medicare and Medicaid. Every county in the country has one. You do not need to prove your income to call. Find your state in the list below, get the phone number, and call. Most have someone available to talk to you the same day — for free.
